Myths about Tie-Dye in POD
With tie-dye, there are some myths that you may hear about:
- Tie-dye can’t be used in print-on-demand because the shirt dyes are unstable and must not be combined with DTG ink.
- The tie-dye pattern isn’t conducive to printing graphic designs as the pattern competes with the image.
- The blanks used in the on-demand space are not PFD (prepared-for-dye), which makes them poor quality.
These myths are the opposite. Tie-dye can be an excellent substrate for DTG as it allows you to print on such vibrant colors and patterns without any negative impact. When choosing your designs for tie-dye, nothing is off-limits.
This garment producer employs an added process for better DTG compatibility to improve the color adhesion & thus color saturation during the printing process. Our tie-dye shirts go through a precision hand-tie process where every piece is hand-tied to create unique pieces of wearable art. The shirts we offer use a proper pH balance, which won't shrink or fade, even after repeated washings. Also, they are quality knit garments that provide color consistency, colorfastness, and unmatched quality.
Cotton garments with cotton thread (PFD garments) are not widely available in the network. Hence, most on-demand companies go for the same option quality-wise that can be distributed more efficiently. The blanks that we offer are the same quality as PFD, with the only difference being the thread on these, which is polyester rather than cotton, and it remains white during the dyeing process.
Tie-dye patterns are generated via a resist-dye process; the swirl is achieved by twisting the t-shirt, and the crystal is achieved by using ice or scrunching the garment into a container smaller than the garment itself where the peaks and valleys of the folds of the fabric provide the resistance.

How to Create your Tie-Dye Shirt
1. Navigate to our Sensaria Admin and go through creating a product. When you're looking through the product catalog, be sure to select the tie-dye t-shirt and then choose which style of tie-dye that you want.
2. Design your custom tie-dye t-shirt with our product editor! Go crazy with your design as you can add your design on both the front and back of the t-shirt
3. After you've designed your tie-dye product, you can add the finishing details for your product and then easily enable it in your store directly from the Sensaria Product Hub.
Once you've created your first tie-dye shirt, you can begin to order your shirt and easily add the shirt to your store. Before you start selling your shirt in your store, we recommend you order a sample of the shirt to see how it looks and to make sure everything is to your liking.
